# -- Serial Number
The # memo allows Serial Numbers to be attached to parts in the inventory and noted when the parts are sold. This is handy when serial numbers must be tracked on the items in stock.
Manually adding Serial Numbers to a part is done under [F6] options with the Add Serial # feature. Serial Numbers are typically added when the item is received in Purchase Orders, however during the first initial setup the user may have to manually adjust items. The list of Serial Numbers on existing items is viewed with [F6] Option, View Serial #.
When a serialized item is sold the system will prompt the user for the serial number on the item(s) being sold to record the serial numbers used, use the [F8] to select the serial number(s) being sold then select OK to confirm. When a serialized item is purchased the system will prompt the user during the receiving process for the serial numbers on the newly received items.
